Not every child has the temperment for the education system. So, what is the proactive response of administrators and teachers? Medicate them! Thank goodness meds were not prevalnet when I was put through the sausage grinder. I eventually found out (on my own) that I thrive in an interactive learning environment such as online education and research. Why does an education system that promotes diversity insist on a single (and faulty) methodology for teaching our children? We treat these children as if they are a labratory experiment. Not one clinician can verify excatly how much of a medication your child needs. He or she is making an uneducated guess.
Drugs can only take your children so far. They certainly cannot ingest powerful Schedule II narcotics for the balance of their lives without serious health ramifications. What are they going to do when they reach adulthood?
Be proactive and investigate the sundry of alternative methods for managing ADHD symptoms. The above poster writes about B-12 deficiency. That is a start. Look into exercise, coaching, home schooling, nutrition, biofeedback, et al.
Best wishes. I know the frustration level can wear you down. However, children diagnosed with ADHD are not diseased. Your job a sparents is to do more than pop pills.
