10-yr -old Needs to be Constant Center of Attention My boyfriend's son has ADHD, ODD & GAD just give you brief background. Boyfriend works nights so grandma watches his son during the week its easy street & one-on-one attention he has very few responsibilities there but when he comes home on weekends he has to share the attention with me & my daughter(boyfriend & I don't live together yet) and he is responsible for doing chores to earn privileges. When he does chores very sloppy rushes and usually has to do things again! Couple days ago he was at grandmas doing homework answered all math questions wrong deliberately cause he was not getting enough attention from grandma. He will attract more negative rather than positive attention. How do we get him to stop being center of attention all the time. Love him & his father but issues with him causing a lot of stress for everyone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated at our wits end ! Quote

Behavior Therapy for ODD I'm sure that the son's ODD behavior is putting a strain on your relationship. It takes patience and compassion and a lot of love to put yourself in that situation and try to make things better. A little behavior therapy might go a long way. Take a look at these articles. You may even want to print them out and show them to your boyfriend and the grandmother. Behavior therapy will be much more effective if you are all on board. It is a team effort. Behavior Therapy for ODD

I'm sure that the son's ODD behavior is putting a strain on your relationship. It takes patience and compassion and a lot of love to put yourself in that situation and try to make things better. A little behavior therapy might go a long way. Take a look at these articles. You may even want to print them out and show them to your boyfriend and the grandmother. Behavior therapy will be much more effective if you are all on board. It is a team effort.
