Have you contacted the school's administrators about getting an evaluation for accommodations?

This article, 8 Steps to Getting School Accommodations for Your ADHD Child, suggests:

Write a letter requesting an evaluation to see if your ADHD child might benefit from academic accommodations. Address it to the chairperson of the Committee on Special Education Services - aka the Director of Special Education Services. (It's often a waste of time to send the letter to the child's teachers, guidance counselor, or principal.)

Should the school decline your request, or if you're dissatisfied with the evaluation's findings, arrange for a private ADHD evaluation. (In some circumstances, the school may have to pay for the outside assessment.) .

My daughter is on her 5th year of speech IEP. I wonder whether his problem is just with speech or with reading and phonetics. My daughter can't tell the difference (in hearing but can visually with written words) between "f" and "th" and other similar sounds. She is being diagnosed now, and the psychologist suggested dsylexia with ADD. You may want to really look at where the problem lies and what services/evaluations can get you the help. I think AEA takes too long (at least here) and that a doctor's evaluation gets things done quicker (Since he is entering middle school already). I knew there was a problem a few years ago, but wasn't encouraged or told what my options were, so I feel like we are behind where I would have liked to have been by now. So I am new to the ADD idea, but not speech IEP's.
