Struggling with ADD and Depression

I have been on Adderall and I loved it. It worked wonders for my ADD but did cause some anxiety. I was more productive at work and home.

My problem is that I suffer at times with depression. I feel myself really down, and low again.

Does anyone take both an antidepressant and something for their ADD? I am to the point that I don't want to get out of bed in the morning. I just don't feel like I have the strenghth to tackle anything.

If you do take medications for both, what works for you?

ADD and Depression

It's believed that nearly half of all ADHD adults and children suffer from at least one additional comorbid condition like depression or anxiety.

Depression could be independent of your ADD or it could be a by-product of inadequate ADHD treatment. It's important to work with your doctor to determine which kind of depression you're dealing with so that you can set up the best treatment plan. In the meantime, I would recommend reading...

ADHD / Depression

I have intermittenly taken an antidepressant with a prescribed stimulant. However, about a year ago I went to a new psychiatrist with concerns of feeling more forgetful and foggy. I was taking a stimulant and Zoloft (from my primary care doctor). The psychiatrist suggested that the antidepressant (Zoloft) was making my cognitive functioning more sluggish. He did wen me off the antideppressant and changed the stimulant. It did seem to make a big difference, but for over a year the antidepressant was very helpful.
