Rumor Control

So the public school that my DS has been attending does not have the BD classes or help that he needs. So at his last IEP meeting it was discussed moving him to another public school in the next town. I have heard some rumors that these BD classes are not allowed to play on the playground equipment ( he is 6 and in kinder) and have no field trips. Has anybody else every experienced these sort of things? I have a meeting with the new school on friday so I know that I can ask them then, but I was just wondering if anybody else has had experiences like these. I guess by putting him in BD classes it is actually putting him in Special Education classes, they are currently working on trying to get him a aide to finish the school year in the school he is at now ( 4 weeks left of year) , but they may not be able to do such. If they can not do this they want to switch school in the next couple of weeks. Wouldn't that just cause more problems? by ruining his routine? What other options should I explore?

how did it go?

I'm curious how your school meeting went - I hope it wasn't as bad as it sounded - about the recess. I know for my dd w/ADHD outdoor time is essential for her - it seems really crazy to even think about keeping kids with ADHD indoors all day! Yikes!

I'm not sure though how I feel about switching schools so late in the year. Is he in a really bad place? If he's miserable, then I guess switching now wouldn't be the worse possible thing, if you felt he would get better care elsewhere. But if he's attached to his current class it seems like why not let him ride it out and switch over summer break?
