Vyvanse Tolerance Is Absurd... What Should I Do?

So i've been taking vyvanse for about 7 months. I don't like to take it everyday because it gives me insomnia so I only take it about twice a week. I know that doctors like prescribing vyvanse because its harder to abuse. Apparently thats not my case. If i take a 50mg at around 8, I can feel it start to wear off as early as 12 am. Vyvanse is supposed to last 12 hours! So I began taking a second 50 in the afternoon. If I dont take enough of it i get really depressed and feel more distracted.

So this week I took it for four days in a row and I'm really concerned at the amounts I need to take in order for it to work! Today I took 250 mg! Strangely I'm not able to focus and I'm exhausted. My body and mind feel like they're in slow motion. My heart rate is fine, I was even able to stomach some food. The only thing is I'm shivering but thats probably from the stupid amount of amphetamine I've consumed. I'm at a loss...I don't want to stop taking vyvanse because so far its been the best medication for my ADHD, but my tolerance is allowing me to take lethal amounts of it. What do I do?!

ADHD Meds - Dosing

Hi:

You're right to be concerned - if you're taking far more than the prescribed dosage of Vyvanse in order to experience the medication's benefits, then it's not working properly for you. It's true that different people require different doses - and it's not always based on body weight or age - but it sounds like you're dealing with an extreme situation. My first advice would be to talk to your doctor ASAP. He/she might be able to prescribe a short-acting alternative for the afternoons that would give you the burst you need to get through the day without all the side effects.

In the meantime, here are a few articles you might find useful...

I hope that helps!

talk to ur doc

I had the same problem, I took vyvanse for about a year and everytime I took it it took about an hour to kick in and the effects only lasted about 3 hours. My doc switched me to adderall XR (generic), today was my first day on it and he instructed me to take two 30 mg capsules in the morning. It defiantly comes on a lot faster and IMO the energy is a lot cleaner than vyvanse. I also got 20 mg of the fast acting script to incase i needed a boost for hw.

Vyvanse Tolerance Is Absurd... What Should I Do?

There's a supplement called amphetarestore incase you haven't heard of it yet. It is a detoxifying agent and it decreases the body's dependency on drugs. So it will basically bring down your dosage to whatever your taking and therefore makes the body react to the drug effectively. I'm currently taking it along with my meds and it keeps my dosage to a minimum as if it's the first time I took the drugs i'm taking. It works for me.

Hope this helps.
