mom w/ add have 3 kids need advice

ok i'll start out with telling a bit about my sit. b4 i ask my ?s. i'm a young mother i'm 22 yrs old i have a 5 yr old daughter (for those of u not good at math i was 16 when i had her) i also have 17month old twin boys. i am not married although i am in a long term relationship (if we got married i would lose my insurance through the state and right now we don't have the money for that) we are currently living in my parents house because again of finacial reasons (my mom also has add but offically has never been diagnosed) well heres the thing my fiance doesnt believe i have add he believe's its just an excuse for me being "lazy" and "messy" i was wondering if there was anything that i could give him to read so he could see that i'm not being lazy and disorganized simply because? also i believe my daughter may have add but her teacher at school doesnt see anything wrong i know for a def. diagnosis i need to ask her doctor but i just wanted to know if its possible to be diagnosed as young as she is? and my last question/statement is i've found alot of info on parenting add kids but what about moms with add parenting non add kids and how to teach them about whats "wrong" with mommy and how to explain why i forget to do things and i'm not like their friends mom. okay well i think thats all for right now thanks so much everyone

Welcome ADD Mom

You've come to the right place to find answers. Regarding your 5-year-old daughter who you suspect of having ADHD, Dr. Larry Silver says that it is unusual for a child under 5 to be diagnosed with ADHD. It is probably best to get an opinion from a medical professional since she is still young and developing.

Some people tend to be skeptical about ADHD, they think it is just an excuse. Those who suffer from ADHD know how real the disability is. Here are a few articles that may help your husband and children understand your ADHD:

How to Talk About Your ADHD

These are just a starting point. As you start to poke around the site and follow the links, I think you will find even more helpful information.

Good luck

mom w/ add have 3 kids

Hi, I'm a 58 yr old mom and grandmom with ADD. I have 5 grown kids, 4 have ADD/ADHD. I have 2 adopted sons, 4 & 9, and 2 foster son's, 6 & almost 8. My kids embraced my ADD differences. It meant I didn't keep after them to put away their shoes. clothes. toys, etc. Of course my house always looked like a cyclone hit. I did everything I could, but there was absolutely no way that I could keep my house organized. About 2 months ago I started taking Adderal XR. What an amazing difference. My house is relatively clean and organized. My bills are paid and mailed on time. I can actually keep up with the kids' behavior charts, and keep after them to put their things away and do homework! They're not embracing their "new" momma's differences. Here's a site that I have found very helpful. www.adhdworld.com. I hope you like it.
