ADD and the RMV/DMV

Facing a Habitual Offender case (criminal) due to driving with a suspended license twice in past few years, due to problems with mail forwarding, and forgetting to deal with clerical matters, as well as two speeding tickets. Unemployed, but no legal aid seems available for criminal matters, other than public defenders, and I'm not sure of the means testing requirements for qualifying. Will be seeking at least free consultation with specialist in RMV matters. Do you have any information on what weight if any, the system gives to ADHD as a disability relating to clerical matters? Would that be any sort of defense? Will showing that I am undertaking an improved system (ie. coaching, or clerical assistance) provide any defense? I realize that a disability may not be a defense in that a license is not constitutionally protected. Do you have any thoughts on the matter? Has anyone else dealt with anything like this before?
