What to Do When Generic Isn't an Option?

Hello, I am a college student who has just recently been diagnosed with ADD. My average costs per month for my prescription is right at $200(non Generic). My problem is my doctor strongly recommended that I take the non-generic, but that is hitting my pocket pretty hard. My question is, are there any programs out there out there that are viable and work? I've signed up for a "drug" card online @ www.usrxcard.org and its helped me save a few dollars(I've only used it once) but the leftover is still pretty significant. I have no real alternative for paying for prescriptions, everything is out of pocket, and a monthly prescription doesn't really budget into a part time salary.

Thanks for any suggestions

Affording ADHD Medication

Yikes! That is quite a bit for a college student to shell out. You may want to consider consulting another doctor and getting her advice on medication options. Explain your financial situation and see if the doctor has any ideas.

You also might want to check out this website Partnership for Prescription Assistance. They can help you find an prescription assistance program.

Good luck, Dena
