Vyvanse: Medication Tolerance

I began taking this medication today. I am concerned because I have read a number of postings noting that effectiveness of this medication appears to wear off after a period of time. How serious a problem is this?

Hopping from medication to medication is not my idea of fun.

Medication Tolerance

Hello,

The best person to discuss this issue with is your doctor. She probably has the most experience dealing with Vyvanse and has seen its effects with other patients. ADHD Medications may affect each person in a different way, and you won't really know how long it will last until you give it a shot. Experts say that sometimes finding the right ADHD medication involves a bit of trial and error. Keep your doctor appraised of your progress on Vyvanse so she can adjust your medication appropriately.

Good luck, Dena

Vyvanse - Do not be surprised

I tried this medication for my child and he did grow a tolerence. I could not bear continuing to increase the dose every few months. I personally have tried stimulants and non-stimulants on my child and nothing has worked as well as Adderall XL. I have ADD as well and it is the only medication that has worked for me, so just give it a chance document your progress and then switch if you are not happy. It is a long process but you will eventually find the one that works for you and it will be well worth the struggle. Good luck.

vyvanse tolerance

I have been taking Vyvanse for about 8 months now, and so far it's the best one for my ADD symptoms. However, I have also noticed a tolerance. What has helped me, is taking one day per week "off" of the medication. That day is a bit rough, to be sure, but it is not horrible (I take a weekend day where it is not so stressful). It does help a lot! Good luck!
