Strattera generic version
At this point Strattera is not a generic drug. They have a generic name for it. But the FDA can take anywhere from 3-7 years before they even allow a generic drug to hit the market. I tried to find one. I asked my son’s Dr. if there was a generic for Strattera available and he said it was too early. That was about 2 years ago and it had been 3 years on the market. At this point, I don’t foresee any generic coming out. (My son was on Strattera for 3.5 years. He has currently decided that he is tired of taking pills after 11 years and is off meds—my insurance covered most of the cost as I paid $60 a month (actual cost was $156.++ for 30 pills—60 mgs.). And there apparently isn’t anything else like Strattera out there yet (my son actually did pretty well on it, focus, minimal side effects, etc.). I have yet to see a generic available for Strattera. The FDA needs to release generics faster if any of us are going to be able to afford any kinds of meds.
Good luck. Sorry, don’t have any suggestions. Tell your Dr. you need help obtaining the script, they do get samples and maybe he can give you some when you visit. Mine gave me probably a whole months worth the last time I got meds for my son cause he knows I struggle with the costs. Don’t feel bad asking, you may not get a lot, but anything helps when pills cost $5.00 - $7.00 for each pill. Boy, are the pharmaceutical companies making money!
