Buprorion as ADD/ADHD combined type treatment
Hi there. I am not sure how old you are but I have a son (8 years old) who is on Bupropion and Clonodine HCL for his ADD/ADHD because he can not take the typical stimulants like Adderall and Stratera since he gets very aggressive. He has been on this medication for about two years and together they help to keep his hyperactivity somewhat reserved as well as give him a little better focus. They do not work nearly as well as stimulants work from my experiences in speaking to other parents with children having ADD/ADHD, but it is an option that we have found to be the most effective without making him so tired he can not function in school, etc. The Clonodine HCL is a medication used primarily for controling high blood pressure but can have sedating effects. It sounds like your doctor is being cautious on what meds to give you and if you are not already seeing a specialist you should get one who deals with ADD/ADHD. Above all, don't be afraid to question you doctor on the meds; their intended effect on you and possible side effects. Good luck!
