Child ADHD med taking habits

My daughter is 9, diagnosed about 1 1/2 years ago with ADHD. Both me (ADD) and my wife (ADHD) both are afflicted. Anyway, my daughter takes an Adderall XR in the morning before school and then a 5 mg booster after school (3:30 pm). She frequently "forgets" or doesn't remember to take her meds, although it happens far more in the afternoon than in the morning. My wife seems to think that at her age and after 1 1/2 years, we should not have to remind her to take her meds at either time. Is taking meds at proper time a habit kids can develop (that is a routine where we don't have to remind) or are we in for finding queues/timers/alarms to remind her (and at times us).
