Does Adderall "Wear Off"

Hello all! I just recently started on Adderall, and while it seemed to be having a noticeable effect at the beginning, the last week or so I've felt very ADD-y. Is this normal? Is it just a sign that I need to keep increasing the dosage?

Any perspective would help.

Thanks! Lindsay

Re: Does Adderall " Wear off"

I had the same thing happen to me. In the beginning it was wonderful!! I could think, remember things, wasn't late, I could focus at work and not end up doing 5 different things and not finishing any of them, then after about a month I felt "fuzzy" again. My doctor gave me Concerta, which works but not as well as the Adderall did in the beginning. I've only been on it about 3 weeks, maybe it will get better??

Lindsey (wierd, huh?)

Adderall Dosage

Hey Lindsay:

Thanks for the question. One of our experts, Dr. Larry Silver, answered a very similar inquiry about Adderall not too long ago that you might find helpful: Developing a Tolerance for Adderall?

Here's another great article about ADHD medication in general that tweaking dosages, alternative treatments, etc.

I hope this helps!

ADD- y ):

It may just be that the "honeymoon" is over and some habits are coming back. I still feel that too at times.

Wearing off

In my experience it is very rare for any medication for ADD not to wear off after 6-8 hours except Vyvance and that wears off around 9 hours later. Most doctors believe the stimulants are a once a day medication, but I have not found that to be the case. ADD-care, which is an all natural alternative to the stimulants also wears off after 6 hours and therefore needs to be taken twice a day.
