Magnesium and Calcium Supplements

Has anyone tried magnesium/calcium supplements for treating ADHD symptoms? Any luck?

Supplements for ADHD

Hi Mommy:

I haven't ever heard of using calcium or magnesium to treat ADHD, but we do have quite a few articles about the benefits of fish-oil supplements.

I would also recommend downloading ADDitude's free Alternative ADHD Treatment report.

I hope this helps!

magnesium/calcium supplements

I recently started using mag/calcium/vit D supplements for a 14 yr old boy and I see changes in mood. I see more ability to handle stressful encounters with out getting into out of bounds behavior. There are some powders which are more reccommended than the tablets because it absorbs faster and better, but the taste was awful for him so we just switched to tablets. I'll see if it's just as helpful. I gave fish oil with the powder but now he's not really taking the fish oils any more.

magnesium

Hi

We are giving our son magnesium and zinc along with fish oils and we have seen a tremendous difference, especially in his mood, He is still on dexedrine, but the with other supplements, he's not as difficult to get along with. He still has the motivational issues with doing school work, but he's a much more pleasant person to be around.

re: Magnesium

I have used Magnesium for migraine headaches, and it worked, but haven't heard of using it for ADD. What we have used is Omega Three Fish Oil, from the drug store isle. It has worked for us. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about it.

Re: Magnesium and Calcium Supplements

A study found that many kids with ADHD have a magnesium deficiency. One of the best ways to increase levels of magnesium in the body is to soak in a magnesium rich epsom salt bath (I use pepsom sports because of the spearmint scent). The magnesium is more easily absorbed into the body transdermally than in pill supplement form. Increasing the magnesium levels in the body has been found to calm both children and adults with ADD and ADHD and is the best natural remedy that I have found. Its 100% natural, inexpensive and works wonders!
