Career as ADD Counselor?

Does anyone know of this? I am a 35 year old ADD sufferer (and that is what it is), and have read a lot about it. If I could pass on some knowledge of it to others that would help them, I would feel better about having to work through it all of these years. Does anyone know of ADD counselors, and I don't mean Psychologists or Psychiatrists.

Thoughts?

Try this?

Have you thought about being professional counselor? If you have your bachelors you could go for master's in lpc and focus on ADD. Just a thought.

ADHD/Counselor

Hey, I'm glad to see someone else asking about this. I've been thinking alot lately about becoming some type of adhd counselor myself. I've only been diagnosed recently with adhd, but have had such a hard time finding anyone, within driving distance, who has very much knowledge or experience with adult adhd patients.

My major concern with going back to school has been being able to focus and remember, but hopefully once I find the right combination of meds, diet, and exercise, my focus and memory will improve. I have a degree in accounting, but I feel as though I wasted my time. I didn't go right into an accounting profession out of college and much of it has escaped me now. Besides, after I finished school and went to work in an office setting, at a local bank, and I found out that sitting behind a desk all day staring at a pile of papers wasn't what I really wanted anyway.

I love to talk to people, especially when they are having problems and need a good listening ear. And I'm really good at keeping things confidential too. Good luck to ya and hopefully we'll both find out what we want to be when we grow up. LOL
