Dr Appt Tomorrow - ? To Ask
We're taking my 10 yr old grandson tomorrow to the dr. We have the couselor report - school input - about answering a question in class then when the teacher turns back to him he's doing something completely different. Can't go to sleep, can't make friends, always know the answer, tunes you out, does impulsive things, BUT he's such a loving boy the other times. What do we ask the dr to make sure we get the right help? His father ignores him - but not his older bro & sis - just gone thru a divorce - but he's had lots of positive enforcement with Grandpa & his uncle. I'm afraid they'll just focus on the divorce and blame it on that. His father shows alot of the same symptoms. |

Diagnosing Children with ADHD
Hi Lauren: Best of luck at the doctor tomorrow. I would definitely suggest reading a few key articles before you head in for your appointment - arming yourself with information about ADHD symptoms, related conditions, and common diagnosis problems will save you a lot of future appointments and headaches. Also, you should try to document the fact that your grandson's behavior existed both before and after the divorce to show that it's not a reaction to family problems... An Accurate ADHD Diagnosis for Children Getting an ADHD Diagnosis: 3 Common Mistakes How Pediatricians Make an ADHD Diagnosis ADHD Diagnosis: Common Symptoms in Children with ADHD Yours Free: Expert Report on Alternative ADHD Treatment Options for Adults and Children ADHD Medication 101: Attention Deficit Treatment Advice I hope this helps! |
