Focalin XR Issues

My 9 year old started taking 10mg of Focalin yesterday. He seems very hyper and wants to argue about everything. Today his teacher said he had ha huge outburst and had a hard time calming down. Back talking and still implusive. She said he was not himself at all today. Anyone else having these issues?

focalin XR issues

My daughter has been on a variety of ADHD for the last 5 years. She started on concerta (3 years with increasing doses every several months) and then we switch to focalin. We had the same issues with focalin as you desribed. My daughter is normally the sweetest, respectful child. On focalin, she was mouthy and lacked concern toward consequences when she didn't get school work done. She has been on Vyvanse 50 mg now for the last year and it is like a miracle drug for her. She takes it in the morning, an hour before class starts and she is still good until 7-8pm for homework. She feels better on the Vyvanse too. It slowly works into her system as oppose to the concerta which hit her like a ton of bricks after a half hour of taking it and it would already be gone by 1pm.

My 9yr. old had the same issues it would work but when it wore off beware. Plus she had to take it 3 times a day because it wore off so fast. She was also very argumentive I just thought that was the nature of ADHD and ODD but maybe not. We just put her on Vyvanse the other day it made her sleepy but I think she just has to get used to it. She is at her dad's this weekend and he said she is fine.
