Extra help at school
Yes there are. They are often called RSP Specialists which stands for resource specialist program. It is a form of special education and is available to students with mild to moderate learning disabilities and /or classified as Other/health impaired which is most often ADHD. For my son who has a few issues with processing information, retrieving information and low working memory, he has a very har time writing and comprehending so he is pulled out of his normal class 4 days per week and works one on one or with a small group of kids with the same issue. There are actually 3 boys in his class who leave the classroom at the same time to go to this and that is very nice because he doesn't feel awkward or singled out to be the "only" kid who needs extra help. He loves it, the specialist is very down to earth and makes learning fun. You should definitley ask your school about this program it is crucial for kids who are behind or are struggling in any certain area of academics. Good luck, hope this helps !
