Accommodations

My daughter is certified gifted and also has ADHD, combined. Her IEP had some minor accommodations in it and I recently discovered that if she has accommodations, she cannot be a member of Beta Club, which is our honor society. I took the accommodations off, but is this legal?

Gifted ADHD Students

Hi there:

I don't have any hard facts about the legality of leaving off accommodations on an honor-society application, but I can tell you that you may have grounds for appealing the Beta Society's rules re: ADHD Accommodations.

Check out this great ADHD Forum string about school accommodations for gifted students with attention deficit.

I hope this helps!
