Natural Ways to Treat ADD?

HI, there. I wonder if you've ever heard about Dr. James F. Balch? He is a physician, a surgeon, a certified nutritional consultant and a leading authority on integrative medicine and nutritional healing. Dr Balch has written several books and co-authored two best-selling books that address a broad range of health concerns and their nutritional prescriptions.

Here is the list of supplements he recommends in his books that might be essential or very important for supporting the treatment of ADD:

Omega - 3 Fatty Acids are essential components in neuronal membranes and play a critical role in their function. Studies have shown that Omega - 3 Fatty Acids supplements produce significant improvements in both cognitive function and behavioral problems, and are therefore essential in the treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder. High amounts of Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B Complex 50 are also thought to be beneficial in this area. Attention Deficit Disorder (also known as ADD,ADHD,Hyperactivity) might relate to Iron deficiency as well as other essential nutrients, a Complete MultiVitamin Mix is recommended is therefore recommended in the treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder.

Unless otherwise specified, the dosages recommended here are for adults. There is also customized formula includeing those nutrients above that you can find from the Web(Googling Natural Treatment of ADD with Supplements !).

I would also suggest you contact your doctor and request a referral to a Registered Dietitian who will be able to offer you advice and support.

Natural ways to treat ADHD

Omega 3 fish oil is a good supplement to take if you have ADHD (also for your heart and BPD) ,and my husband, my daughter and I all take it. We also take B12 supplements and multivitamins. Although it may help some, it doesn't eliminate the symptoms anything like the medication for ADHD. I had been taking the Omega 3 before I even was aware that I had ADHD. Once I was diagnosed and started on medication, I noticed a huge difference.

Even though my husband and daughter take the Omega 3 and other multivitamins, there is a dramatic difference when they take or don't take their ADHD medication.

Exercise is also good for ADHD. Exercise and a proper diet are also beneficial for those with high blood pressure and heart disease, But if you need to be on heart medication or blood pressure medication, the natural ways are usually not suficient for most people. Perhaps milder cases of heart problems, ADHD, etc. can be improved with exercise, diet and supplements to the degree that medication is not needed, but not all individuals will gain enough significant improvement through those methods alone.

Phosphatydlserine, 200 mg and ginko Biloba, 60mg

Phos. seems to help my memory. I'm not sure about the ginko but I take it because I've read that it helps boost brain function. I am a female who has become quite forgetful, especially noticeable since menopause 4.5 years ago. Has anyone else had similar forgetfullness post-menopause or tried Phos or ginko or both?
