Pencil Pouch Organizer... Does It Exist?

I'm desperate to find a way to help my DS with his pencil pouch. Originally, the students were told to "dump everything" in to the pencil pouch and I was able to get his teacher to go through it with him to have only what is absolutely necessary in there. Even having done such, he ends up having to pull half of the stuff in the bag out to find the "yellow highlighter" or "red pen". I need some sort of organizer that tape/scissors can go in one pocket/compartment, pencils/pens in another, colored pencils/highlighters in another...you get my point. I've googled endlessly and have come up with nothing.

Is there anything like this on the market? If not, how have you helped your child with this? Thanks for any info!

Pencil Box

Hi there:

Ah, back-to-school gear. Yes, I definitely remember those big plastic pencil boxes from my own youth. They aren't so easy to find anymore, but I did a little searching and came up for a few leads for you...

A different option..

Does it HAVE to be a 'pouch' per se?

I know Rubbermaid makes these little 'drawers' that fit on my computer desk and they are stackable. Here's what I'm talking about: http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/p4_Rubbermaid-Mini-Drawers_110958_Business_Supplies_0_10051_SC1:CG30:CL140604

I keep like items in the same drawers. (such as glue sticks/adhesive roller, super glue in one drawer, highlighters in another one.)

Here's another thought--what about something like a roll-up paint-brush holder? http://sewing.about.com/od/freeprojects/ss/brushrollup.htm has directions on how to make your own.

http://www.theartistsdepot.com/Alvin_Prestige_Brush_holders.htm has a variety of brush holders...roll up, ones that fit on the desk.

Or a make up brush holder--might work better due to the fact that there are some make up brushes that have large handles. If you are crafty, you could make one of your own based on the aforementioned sewing.about.com website's directions, but sew 'lines' down in various width intervals for the items that would need to be stored. Then it could be rolled up and tied, or closed with a snap/button, magnet, etc.
