Fairly New to ADHD Meds

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone out there had some advice as far as meds go? I'm 21 years old and was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 17. Since I lived on my own at the time I didn't really have anyone to help regulate my meds. I started Adderall XR first which sent me into a big depression bout right after taking it. I stopped that immediately and then went on Focalin, I got sort of a panic attack and refused to take that (mostly because I was still young and scared) Lastly I took Strattera for almost a year, it worked but it just made me sooooooooooo sluggish and tired, once I deployed to Iraq I couldn't risk taking it anymore. Now I'm having relationship/work problems and I can tell I really need something to help get me back on the right track but I'm just not sure what's helpful and I'm pretty nervous about it. I was considering Concerta, Vyvanse or Focalin but I don't know too much about them. Help? Any suggestions/resources would be helpful. Thanks so much! -Christy

I work in a psychiatrist office and two of the medications that I often find that my clinicians prescribe for adults with ADHD is Dextrostat and Dexedrine. It is worth asking you psychiatrist or primary doctor about. The thing is what works for one person may not work for another as our chemical make up is all different. I wish you the best of luck. You may also want to find a local CHAAD http://www.chadd.org/) near you so that you can speak with others that are going through what you are. There is nothing wrong with having ADHD or ADD, it is more common then people realize.

healing ADD the Breakthrough Program That Allows you to See and

By Dr. Daniel G. Amen , MD would be a good place to start because it breaks the 6 types of ADD and list the type of meds etc tha thelp in each of them. Based on this book I went back on my Ritalin LA 20 mg and Welbutrin XL 150 mgs which is working for me. This may be the where you can start before the relationship get to broken. Also remember that if this person doesn't enhance you , then he not the person you need. Just because you are ADD doesn't mean you shouldn't be accepted and loved the way you derserve to be
