Weighted Belt/Vest?

Has anyone tried the weighted vests (or preferably the Miracle Belt) to help an ADHD child sit in school without roving the classroom and thrashing around? I am interested in the weighted belt because it can be worn beneath the shirt so it doesn't show and is relatively inexpensive (around $50) but I don't want to throw money away either.

Classroom Behavior

Hello:

I'm not sure I understand how a weighted belt will help since it may only suppress the need to get up out of your seat - but not actually help let off all that steam building up under the surface... I haven't read any research advice about this, though.

My best advice would be to read ADDitude's best articles about classroom behavior for children with ADHD, which contain lots of tips for teachers and parents who want to harness all that energy during school hours.

I hope that helps.

30 day money back guarantee

Hello,

Did some research on the Miracle Belt and found the company offers a 30 day money back guarantee. Looks like if it doesn't work yfor your child you can get your money back. But I do have to say, the testimonials are pretty impressive with doctors, teachers, therapists, and parents of children with different diagnoses all saying the same thing.

Wish the belt was out there for my daughter when she was two years old. My daughter was low tone so we couldn't use the weighted vest since they effect posture but they also create excess body heat so I never gave it any real thought anyway.

No reason not to give it a try! Just my thoughts :)

Weighted Vest

YES! The weighted vest (OTVEST.COM) has helped my son tremendously at school in circle time. He knows when to get it and put it away. He is 5 yrs old and has sensory intergration issues and ADHD. The one I bought was high quality denim and the weights are in the shoulders which is what he needed. It looks just like a normal denim vest.
