Stratera at Night?

Does anyone here have experience with taking or administering Stratera? My son (8) has been on a low does of Stratera (25mg) for a little over a year with pretty good results. The only issue is his sleeplessness and early morning waking. To make a long story short we ended up giving him his dose of Stratera in the evening yesterday, instead of the morning. I was expecting the worst, but it was the best night of sleep he's had in years. I woke him at 9:30 a.m. instead of him waking me at 6:00 a.m. Does anyone know if Stratera is more effective if taken later in the day? I know I have to take my Adderall XR early in the morning or I'll be up super late. I know Stratera and Adderall work in different ways though. Any suggestions or references?

Stratera at night?

hey, just read your posting I am a 25 yr old female. I was officially diagnosed last yr. But have known that I have ADD for a while. The only medication I have been on was Stratera and i took the medication at night sleep was never a problem but waking in the morning seemed a little more difficult than usual. A word of caution i did find that if i missed a dose it resulted in some really wierd mental side effects and MAJOR headaches so just watch him closely

Different meds

So were you advised to take the Stratera at night, or did you just decide that on your own?

Strattera @ night

My son was having a lot of side effects during the day and still seeing a benefit of the medicine - so we were not anxious to change the meds. We started giving him his meds at night and what a difference it made. He slept through the "side effect" phase of the medicine and did not have any sleep issues. When we went back to the Dr. for a checkup she noted the schedule change and told us that as long as he is taking the medicine daily - it's really all about getting it in and sticking with it. Talk to your child's Dr about the change - and keep up w/ regular blood work to make sure everything else is fine and you'll be set.

Good luck!
