dexedrine
Dexedrine is not a med that needs to be weaned away. It is only in the system for 6-8 hours, so in reality, one is unmedicated for a portion of every day. My 12 year old son has been on dexedrine for almost a year, and has never taken it on weekends or school vacations and has no anger, agression or other problems when off the med.
Perhaps the outbursts that thegrammie's grandson are more due to his unmedicated state, not due to withdrawal from dexedrine.
Of course, one should always consult your doctor before stopping a med, but my son's pediatrician is well aware that he does not take his stimulant when he is not in school. In my son's case, he has ADHD inattentive, and at his age, he doesn't need to focus after school unless he has lots of homework, and if that happens, we have fast acting ritalin for focus short term for focus.
