ADHD Support Groups

Hi! To see if there is a group in your area or for more information on starting a group, go to www.chadd.org

I go to a support group for parents of children with ADHD in Lantana, FL. I live in West Palm Beach, FL. Unfortunately, I am too far from Panama Beach, FL or I'd love to meet with you. The support group is affiliated with CHADD, which is a national organization that advocates for children and adults with ADHD.

I would also call your local school board and ask for the phone number for the Parent Advocacy Group or Parent Liasons. I believe every school board in FL has such a group. I could be wrong and maybe it is just in our county (Palm Beach County), but I think it is available throughout Florida. Most teachers don't know about it and parents are usually not informed about the existence of such a group. They help parents advocate for their child in the school system. They are knowledgeable about the various laws and will accompany you to a meeting with school officials, 504 coordinators, etc. They are employed by the school district but their job is to help parents advocate for their child and his or her needs. They can be very helpful.

I hope some of this information will be helpful. Good luck!

Elaine
