Strattera and Risperdal

My son has ADHD and Chronic Motor Tic Disorder. We went to the psychiatry appointment. I really like her. She is going to leave my son on Strattera for now but she has added Risperdal 0.25 mg. She said it should help with the tics and maybe with some of his tantrums. I am nervous to try a new medication though.

Straterra and Risperdal

My husband has taken Risperdal a few times but at a much higher dose. It was not for ADHD or tics but for another disorder when dysphoria was present. My nephew, who had been diagnosed as Bipolar at age 9, has been on a low dose of Risperdal for about 9 years. I don't recall him having any particular problems with the medication.

Do you have any specific concerns about the medication? You can always ask your pharmacist questions. My sister is a pharmacist so I go to her with all my medication questions.

Good luck,

Elaine

I don't have any questions yet, he just starting taking it tonight. But I am glad to hear that they haven't had problems. Thank you for the advice. I never think to ask the pharmacist for some reason but I will start doing that if I have questions.

Well my son started taking the Risperdal on 7/19/08 in the pm. He isn't complaining of any side effects only that he was a little sleepy. So far so good. :)

Strattera and Risperdal help

My son has been taking Risperdal 0.25 mg for his tics but it almost seems like his tics are getting worse. I called his psychiatrist Monday and she said to keep trying for 10 more days. Has anyone else experienced this?
