Medications

Hello, this is my first ever post here. My 10 year old son's teachers suspect he may have ADD/ADHD so we are beginning the process for testing etc. My son's main concern is the form in which these medications come. He cannot swallow pills with water. Do they come in liquid form or chewable maybe? Can anyone help with an answer to this one. I know it seems minor in the big scheme of things but having the information now may help. Thanks.

Hello... my son is also 10 and does not take pill well, however a lot of these pills are very small and easy to take...it depends on the medication... always tell your doctor about your child not taking pills well.. they have charts that will show you the actual size of the pill... hope this helps... good luck to you and your child.

Medication Alternatives

Some medications are quickly dissoved when placed on the tongue. There is also a medication patch that can be worn throughout the school day - some ADHDer's end up peeling it off because it annoys them.

Some ADHD meds are made in a liquid form and some in a patch. You might want to ask your doctor about them. Hope this helps.

Consult your doctor about this, and I am sure he can provide some viable alternatives.
