Packing For 4 Weeks of Travel to Different Climates
Hi, I was reading the article about packing for travel and downloaded the packing list. I'm curious how many weeks that packing list is supposed to cover. Also, I want to reduce packing for my 2 ADHD sons (10 and 16), me (ADHD) and my DH (ADHDenial:^). We are going first to California for a week then on to Hong Kong for 3 weeks. The climates are different, as is the culture regarding clothing. I want to pack just enough stuff. In Hong Kong we will have access to a washing machine, but no dryer. In San Fran we will be in a hotel and I'm not sure what amenities are available. At any rate, what do we need for 4 weeks? Will that packing list suffice? Right now I have 3 25-inch suitcases and 4 carry-ons, but it is overwhelming me and taking me forever, regardless of endless lists, to get it packed. Are 3 25-inch suitcases too many for 4 weeks for 4 people? I'm soooooo overwhelmed and don't know how to organize this packing event. |

Packing List
Hi Maybeth: I don't envy your travels this summer... I just hope the airlines are running on time and your sons have fully charged iPods for the flights! The packing list you found on our site was for a typical one-week vacation, so it will need some tweaking for your purposes. Did you also see this article about packing strategies? http://www.additudemag.com/adhd/article/993.html As a Bay Area native, I will warn you that SF is rarely warm in the summer, so plan to wear the same pair of jeans (maybe 2) with a t-shirt and hoodie during your stay in San Francisco. It could possibly peak above 75 degrees, but one pair of shorts/one skirt should suffice. Also, keep in mind that you can always buy whatever you need during the trip, so better to pack light! Best of luck! |
