Disability

My grandson was dignosed with ADHD, ODD and being developmentally delayed at 4 . I applied for SSI in California and was denied, I reapplied 3 years later and was successful. When he was 10 I adopted him and because SSI is awarded based on household income he was removed and I claimed as a dependant on my social security. He will be 19 in Nov. and no longer intitled as a dependant. I filed for disability for him and was denied. I have a lawyer handling it now. My son still has the same disorders he had as a child only some them are effecting him worse. I'm wondering if anyone out there has had this problem and could give me some advice.
