Strattera and Clonidine

Is anybody's child taking Strattera for focusing and Clonidine for hyperactivity? If so how they are doing on it? My seven year-old daughter has tried four stimulants in a year. She was starting to have palpitations but her EKG was normal. She stopped taking stimulants for two weeks. Since she was sensitive to the stimulants the psychiatrist put her on Strattera. This week the psychiatrist put her on Strattera 18 mg to start off and next week will work up to 25 mg a day. He also put her on Clonidine for hyperactivity which concerns me because it is suppose to make her drowsy. So, he said to give her a 1/4 or less of the Clonidine just to help with the hyperactivity. I just wanted to ask other parents if their children have done the same and what was the outcome. Thanks!

Strattera and Clonidine

Hi, I read your post and was wondering how your daughter is doing taking the combination of both medicines? My 7yr old son has also taken four different stimulants within the past year and a half , and none seem to last long term. I don't undrestand why they seem to help for a while and then just stop. Any information you can give me about, their effectivness, side effects, ect I would really appreciate. Perhaps my doctor would consider trying these. Thanks

Side Affects

My daughter has tried Concerta, Focalin XR, Daytrana, Vyvanse, Strattera, and Clonidine. Concerta, Focalin XR, Daytrana, and VyVanse are all Ritalin base stimulants. They all have about the same side affects. Strattera and Clonidine are nonstimulants. My daughter was having heart palpitations/tachycardia recently I think due to the stimulants from what her pediatrician said. Her EKG was normal. Even when she started the nonstimulants she was having palpitations. If they have heart problems they should not be taking the stimulants and nonstimulants. I am looking at other alternatives like diet and Omega Brite for Kids to see if it helps her.
