Medication Alternative
Has anyone taken their child off of ADD/ADHD medication? And, changed their diet. How do you cope? What have you done for their diet? Does it help? I am asking because I have a seven year-old daughter. She has ADHD and has been on four medications in a year. Recently, she has been off of medication for a week, for the last week, because she was having chest pain and heart palpitations. These medications frighten me. I want to find alternatives like changing her diet or any other suggestions you know that work. There is no telling if there has been other damage to her body by the medication. |

Hi there: ADDitude has some very popular articles about Alternative Therapies (Including diet, exercise, therapies, neurofeedback, etc.) that you might find helpful. Homeopathic remedies
Hi - I just recently decided to try 'natural healing' with my 10 year son. He has been diagnosed with ADHD with extreme impulsivity. He has been on alot of different types of medications - all seem to work for a short period - than his body must build a tolerance to them rendering them ineffective. So I thought I would try these natural products and change his diet. Supposedly, Milk (gluetin and casein) are very bad for children with ADHD. And also wheat and sugar - so we are going to try to cut back on these. I let you know if I see any results. |

ADD-care
Most of my clients who were previously stabalized on the stimulants are now on ADD-care and doing just as well without the side effects. 85% use the supplement alone and many use it as a last dose since it can be taken after 4PM. It has no appetite or sleep disturbances. |
