Questioning Myself
My son is 12 and I finally got the school to complete an IAT. The last meeting the school psychologist said she had enough info to make an IEP for my son. Listening to all the teachers talk over all their notes and tests (have had 3 meetings with IAT) really scared me. I keep feeling like I'm not doing enough. Like I am failing my son at times because I can't make things easy for him. That I can't "fix" everything. The hardest part is that I can't shake people and get them to notice all the good things about him. Other times I am confident in what I am doing. Does anyone else feel like they are on a rollercoaster with themselves? What do you do about it? |

A Good Start
It sounds like you've taken the most difficult steps already (getting all the teachers and psychologist working together)... and have met with great success (an IEP in the works), so you should definitely be proud of the progress you've made in getting your son the accommodations he needs at school. Of course, you will always feel like you can do more... so here are a few ADDitude articles that might give you ideas for starting off the next school year right, for making sure that IEP is rock solid and for keeping it that way over time...
