Organizing Children's Rooms

My daughter, 9 years old, and I both have ADD. Our biggest area of conflict is her room and the fact that it is always such a mess that I can't even get across the room without stepping on SOMETHING. She is a very creative child, as most ADDer's are and though we have set up her toy storage area in shoe-box sized bins she always seems to find ways to fill them with an assortment of clipped paper, misc. ribbon, rocks and other stuff. Between what she collects, the Polly Pockets and art supplies... Chaos reigns in her room. Does anyone have any suggestions? It is a small room and unless it is kept picked up, it is impossible.!!!

A Popular Article

Hello Doubly Blessed:

Thanks for posting! I wanted to pass along one of ADDitude's most popular articles about helping your ADHD child maintain a clean room...

Clutter-Free Backpacks and Bedrooms: http://www.additudemag.com/adhd/article/1038.html

Many of these articles deal specifically with school organization, but perhaps you'll find some useful pointers here in our index of "Organization Tips for ADHD Kids," too: http://www.additudemag.com/search/keyword/Organization%20Tips%20for%20ADD%20Kids.html

Hope this helps!
