Question About Child's Self Esteem

I am just online today searching for help for my 12 year old daughter. She has been diagnosed since she was about 7 (although I knew she had it long before that). I think she is just recently realizing that having ADHD is not something positive. She has always struggled with school work, and told me today that she doesn't want ADHD, because that means she's not smart. Of course I reassured her that she is very smart, and went on to list the things she excels in, like art, creative decorating, photography, and other creative things she is amazing at, but I wish I could find some information about the childs brain, and how it works with ADHD, anything to read to her about how her brain works. Something to make her think "oh, I am not dumb, strange, or weird, I am actually really smart in such and such way..." anyway, thanks if you made it this far, and if anyone out there knows of a good book for her, or I, or a good web article etc.. please post it here if you could. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

This is definately the book you should read

My husband has ADD and most of our five children as well. I love the book from Dr. Amen called Healing ADD and discovering that there are 6 types. It goes into detail about the brain and shows actual pictures of the brain and how it looks with those that have ADD/ADHD. You can get a brain scan and see which type you have. That is our next step with our family.
