Natural methods
Hi, We started with a naturopath and had blood work done for food sensitivities. We have stuck to the diet and his behaviour has improved dramatically. We are using homeo drops right now for detoxing and waiting the results on lead testing. His focus has not improved dramatically yet but it has only been 4 months and we are pleased with his progress so far. Homelife is much better. If you have not had CAP testing yet, you may want to look into it as well as sleep apnea. Like every professional out there, some are better than others. Try to have a naturopath recommended to you in your area. Seek a support group in your area to see if a parent there can recommend someone. Be prepared as well....eliminating preservatives and colours and other allergens is not easy. But like any change, you will adapt and it will get easier and it has been worth it for us. If the entire family (including grandparents when he visits) supports your son through the diet change and everyone tries to stick to diet the best they can, it will be easier for him and he will not feel alienated or alone doing it. I gave my son daily incentives for sticking to the diet for 2 months. Once it became habit, he discovered how "feeling good" is supposed to be, if he eats something he shouldn't, he can feel the affect and doesn't want it again. If his cousins taunted him with candy or stuff, I gave him $2.00 and told him to let them know that everytime they taunt him, he gets paid. The taunting immediately stopped, they didn't want their cousin getting rich!
