person first language please!!!
I don't know where else to post this...
but I work as a sp ed assistant, and one thing that kept coming up was to be respectful when referring to people...which means to recognize that someone is a person FIRST, not the disability/disease/disorder first.
It dries me nuts when people say "your ADHD child".
Please.
Your child is a child first.
Child with ADHD.
The only exception seems to be with the deaf, as they view themselves as having heir own CULTURE.
See the person first.
