Anyone with an ADHD child should read this

Hello readers,

I am sure that many of you have sought ADHD treatment and looked at many alternative options as opposed to taking stimulants everyday, and i am sure that you will have come across some that are a complete waste of time. But i can assure you that CHIROPRACTIC NEUROLOGY is something that you should look into.

Chiropractors use eye exercises, balance techniques and other various co-ordination exercises to help the paitent (usually children). They apply light adjustments onto the spine to help put the nervous system back into place. This process is long term and the paitent should have weekly appointments and do the exercises at home. This along with diet suppliments such as magnesium and zinc and i promise you will see results... my brother goes to ne of these and he would usually get suspended from school at least once a month but now that he has been going to the chiropractors he has been in fewer fights and has been praised by his teachers from his improved behavior!

I absolutely agree!

I work with children and adolescents with ADHD (among other problems) using a technique based on a protocol called the Hemispheric Integration Technique, which is taught by Dr. Robert Melillo, a Chiropractic neurologist who teaches doctors of all kinds this technique nationally (USA) and internationally. The HIT is a multi-modal approach utilizing sensory/motor activities (including working with the visual system as you stated along with the other special senses) - what I call "plowing the field before planting the cotton" - which is the cognitive aspect. We also use nutritional and allergy-elimination techniques, because most, if not all, of our clients have gut issues resulting in allergies to foods and environmental chemicals. By using this multi-modal approach (instead of a linear one such as doing one thing, then another, then another ad infinitum), we get exponential improvement in both learning and behavior.

I am going to try the Chiropractor

I am fed up with meds and the side affects. I fear the long-term, adverse effects after having my son lose 4 pounds in just 2 months (he is six and weighs 38 pounds now) and going from a happy-go-lucky child each day to an anxiety driven mess when dropped off at school. Your posts have given me encouragement to pursue this alternative avenue, and while I understand that treatments can take time, my son's overall health is most important to me.

where do you go about finding a good "neuro" chiropractor? What does the zinc and magnesium do?

thankyou for the replies all,

to answer your questions,

about finding a good chiropractic neurologist, this could be somewhat difficult since this is only a newish thing... i guess you just have to look around your area, i have had to travel into the closest city for my brother which luckily is only about 1 hour away so it's not too bad.

as for the magnesium and zinc, they are just some natural supliments that are found in ordinary foods but the extra bit each day helps with brain development!

there is also a thing called a brain mapping where electrobes are connected to a childs scalp and then they read the brain and produce a picture with highlighted areas of the brain that aren't functioning well which gives the chiropractor a more accurate answer so she can then provide the suitable treatment.

Case Studies?

I have heard of this but I need to read some studies on it. I have looked online for anything with Chiro care and ADHD and have not been able to find much. Do you have any links for some info on this?

Thanks!

Jen
