Diagnosing my son

Hi,

I have two sons, having learning disabilties. They are doing mistakes while reading and writing. The read b as d and d as b, similarly they guess the word without reading the complete spelling. Also, he reads who as how. Careless mistakes in addition and subtraction. Forget to do things in order, missed to switch off the light while leaving that room, similarly leaving toilet without flushing water. Speaks themselves, making noise always.

What should I do ? Whether I have to consult a doctor ? Suggest me in detail.

diagnosing

Well, I think you can start with the school, and pediatrician. It sounds similiar to ADD but, you never know. My daughter was like that. She turned letters until about 6th grade. She never folowwed through with simple tasks either...lights, flushing, etc. I knew something was up. She was a poor speller, and even worse at math. I kept bringing it up to our school...finally in 6th grade the school ran some simple tests and observed her. Then, I brought all that info to the pediatrician, and that's where we finally found out. They did a 2 day intensive testing and it was very clear..ADD/inaattentive, and LD in math. Thanks God. Now, she gets help and she is doing really great. Good luck.
