I am so anxious regarding my taxes
I am so anxious because being a true ADDER I can keep a receipt or track of what I did today ; and now I have to worry about 2007 I bought H& R block to help me, took it to a person who said I would owe them because I can't find the receipts. Sometimes I think taxes a way to tourcher a ADD person. Until that return comes without an audit is the anxiety decreasses. I have really tried to keep receipts for my uniforms, books, etc; but I just can't find them . I have another question if you gave your sister in law 4,000 money to run away from abusive husband can I write it off as an charitable donations, Iset her home up for her and children right off.and set up an office for her to work bought her computer, took out my stock to help and until I go back to school. Any ideas what I can use will be welcomed. Is this considered anything since she wasn't many friend or my family and it was given stickly to her back on her feet. She is not my family ;and I didn't want to give her so much money ; but I thought I was doing a good thing helping her and her children. Now I owe money on the stock I sold.

Taxes
Sounds like there isn't much you can do about your taxes. This year either place something in a convenient spot to drop all your receipts in or use checks as your receipt. I don't think that you can write your situation about the money off as a charitable contribution. You would be better off either letting that go or take this person to court for your losses that you gave her. Also very important. I know that it is hard to say no, but when it starts effecting your well being especially. You need to learn to set boundaries. Believe me I know that it is hard. But it does get easier to say no. |

Set yourself up right for 2008
OK -- so you're in a tight spot for 2007 taxes - as far as receipts and whatever go. But unless you claim an enormous amount of money in 2007 (compared to 2006/2005) and wrote off ENORMOUS amount of money in 2007 (compared to year's past) you should be ok. Although I'm not a CPA - it sounds like you need one. Certified Public Accountant -- someone who can help you -- throughout the year -- to make sure you end up on the right side of the financial fence. A good way to start, as suggested by an earlier post, is to make a "receipt box" -- whether it be a shoe box, or another similar-sized box -- put it in a central location (ours is on top of our fridge) so that EVERY receipt -- from gas to Burger King - is kept in the box. If you incorporate it into your daily routine -- you won't lose the receipts that really are important. At tax season next year - give the box to your CPA - that's her job to sift through them and decide if they are worth keeping. Good Luck. You're in our prayers. |

taxes
I read your advise and i took it to heart this tax season I will save every thing i do on-lline banking and pay all my dotcors or cars mileage paid on theThe less paper I have the better organized Ibecome. sheets. Also found it it is a better way to keep any donations for groups I give to I have proof, and no more taxes five to me when iI drop thing off. and large amonut of paper. The bottom line is I hate loose paper and no matter how sure I will put them away they will eventually something important will get lost.In Excel I am trying a new project to list my uniforms, shooes books, scissors things for school and work I emptied my filing cabinet box out and threw out all the garabge I didn't need ans I will stay on top of it at least once a week. Also whart to the IRS think of big deuductions on average and what is too big ( ADD RN ) |

You can do it
Here's something that I've found helpful. Pay for everything with either a credit card or, better, debit card from your bank. Then at the end of the year, even if you haven;t saved all your receipts, you have a record of everything you spent and where in your bank statements. Also, if you have deductible expenses that you normally pay by check -- rent, mortgage, or whatever--arrange to pay them online through your bank. Again, you will have a record. I just finished going through having to do several years of back taxes and deal with the I.R.S. on an offer-in-compromise (I used an accountant, of course). Nothing was scarier to conetmplate -- it made me want to crawl into bed and pull the proverbial covers over my head -- but once I did it, it was not that painful, and, boy, was it liberating. Believe me, if I could handle that--and I'm a championat getting overwhelmed by this sort of thing--you can handle your yearly taxes. Good luck! |
