bouncing from job to job

"Certain positions in the Nusing field would be ok, I guess, but I just don't love it...mainly due to the workplace politics involved."

I found this article just yesterday. After reading it, it felt as my entire life struggle was summarized. As a gifted adult with ADD, it seems I've never been able to find anything that i'm GREAT at--as i'm good at everthing--i've made 2 substantial career changes, taking salary cuts, and after the pay leveled off, I find myself back in the same state of unhappiness. I'm on the verge of changing my career again, as i too am fed up with office politics b/w Artist types and Marketing types... (Web Designer). I really am unsure what direction to go in, however I'm hoping by chasing after something that I don't LOVE but tolerate doing day in and day out, I wont find myself hating it in the end.
Oh god, do I hear you. I started out working part time in a restaurant, because it was the only work available. From there, I ended up working part time at a TV station (while in college, studying journalism). I realized that was not the career for me. From there, I bounced to full time work on an assembly line. Because of the way my mind worked, and I could find better ways (more efficient) to do some jobs, I was accused of cheating by some colleagues, because I always had higher counts. Hyperfocus, didn't hurt...
From there, when the plant closed, I ended up in a court office, working as a clerk, rose to one of the highest positions available, after only 6 years, but left after another three. Partly due to boredom, partly due to politics.
I took a computer course, to learn WordPerfect, Lotus 123, dBase3 and DOS (1990) to prepare for another job leap. I knew computers was the way to go. I completed a 7 week course in 2 weeks, and basically helped other students over the next 5... the teacher at the end of the course said "I know you don't have any questions, is there anything you need to tell me?" (Okay, the computer world was the place I knew I had to manoever my way into, beause I understood it almost instinctively.)
I took a 9K drop in pay to take a temporary job at a university, which parlayed into a fulltime job before the contract ended. The new job was in a Computer Services dept, and though I was an Admin secretary for the department, I knew I found where I needed to go. Again I jumped to another job and back up to the previous salary range before I left the courts. Unfortunately, personality conflicts, and people who didn't trust me ruined that job for me. (I can't lie worth a tinker's dam, and they can't believe me when I tell the truth. Even then, I normally understate the truth....)
I finally found a job in the technology field, jumped to a second job in a think tank for the same company and loved it, until I was downsized. It took me almost 2 years to find work again. This time, the fit is perfect. It allows me to be creative and logical at the same time, instead of just a boring and tedious desk job where I have little to actually occupy my need for mental challenge.
Its taken me more than 20 years to find the job that suited me.
