Biofeedback

My son is 8 years old and has trouble w/ focus and working memory. We have read a lot of research on biofeedback therapy, but no clinics offer that treatment in our area. In fact, our neuropsych. poo poos biofeedback and really only suggests meds! (We're not impressed, and are not interested in meds at this point.) Does anyone know of a program that we can do at home? We have read about Cogmed and Play Attention, but have no idea which is better. Cogmed has a fairly short treatment period (5 weeks, I think?), whereas Play Attention has a longer treatment period. Has anyone compared these or other programs like this and have a champion? Also, does anyone have a brand name for a fish oil (omega 3) supplement that has the recommended ratio of 4 to 1 (3's to 6's)?

Re: Neurofeedback Question

Cogmed indeed has some great research results supporting its effectiveness and causing continued improvement even a year later in working memory. The folks I've talked to who have done this program were all pleased with the results.

David Rabiner, Duke University, has talked about Play Attention in his newsletter.
