Has anyone tried....

Has anyone tried Cogmed? My therapist who I been seeing for a short time now suggested it to me. Its a learning tool, that helps you build and retain memory skills better. There is a website for it called www.cogmed.com I believe. I am interested in trying it out, I guess its a 5 week program, that involves about 1/2 hr to 45 mins a day for 5 days each of the 5 weeks. Its a computer based program, and each day the results get sent to your therapist where they can evaluate what you have learned and help you progress. I am thinking on doing this, the only downside is the cost. Its not covered under any insurance plan that I know of, because mainly its a learning tool, rather then a medication or therapy session per se. Which just stinks, the cost from what my therapist said to me, is 1500 hundred dollars. Which to me is really expensive for a program. But he did tell me, that alot of people that have done this retain better memory even after being tested 5 years after having done the program. So its not all nonesence, I guess. Has anyone here heard of Cogmed and has done it? Is it really beneficial, and worth the hefty price. I am still debating on whether to try and manage it to afford this treatment, I just don't know how I could come up with that kind of money.

Re: Cogmed question

Do look up the research, as it is pretty impressive. It's an expensive program but quite efficient and has on-going benefits even after the 5-week treatment done at home on your own computer.

I have only heard positive feedback so far from folks.

Cogmed

In the CHADD convention last November cogmed was mentioned very positively in the supplementary methods conference. They mentioned good research, I think in Sweden, that had been replicated in the US succesfully. I too would like to purchase the program for my 8 ear old, but I am waiting until she knows more English, since know her main language is Spanish.

Introduce with 'rvita' . know more about alternative therapies

When going the alternative medicine route one is often left to research and experiment to find the right products and resources. Here is a new site that is beginning to gather all the resources in one place. You can research conditions for various therapeutic modes, including Ayurvedic medicine, and get information about the effectiveness of therapies and remedies. The site is also a launching point for researching integrated alternative medicine therapies on the web. Go to http://www.rvita.com .
