School Discipline Problems

My son has had behavior problems at school everyday. He doesn't try, he writes answers even though he knows their wrong, he won't correct mistakes, he whines, he yells, etc. He is fairly OK at home. Do I discipline him at home for the trouble he got into at school? He is already disciplined at school. We do discuss the problems and what he could have done. Is that enough? Today he spelled the word "GO" wrong and wouldn't correct it. He knew it was wrong. They told him if that's the way he wants it, it can stay that way. I feel his teacher doesn't really take into account he is different and can't be dealt with like everyone else.

Thanks for listening to me vent and any suggestions would be appreciated.
