Decreased Effectiveness of Meds?
I have been taking Wellbutrin (450 mg extended release) for sometime. The initial and mid-term effectiveness has been sound but, as of late, it seems that it is not as effective anymore. After taking these meds for sometime, I am wondering if it is common to see effectiveness waning. Any thoughts or common experiences? Anybody out there who has experience taking Wellbutrin along with other ADHD meds? By the way, the 300 mg extended release went generic about 6 months ago; unfortunately, I discovered that the generic was dramatically less effective (and my doctor now prescribes me the non-generic). |

Decreased Effectiveness
Same thing happened to me...I was taking 450mg Wellbutrin which seemed effective for a while, but decreased over time. My Dr. kept me on the Wellbutrin, but added Concerta. That seemed to do the trick for about a while, but after about a year, I again noticed a big decline in effectiveness. My Dr. then switched the Concerta to Adderall, which was effective, but she had to keep increasing my dose over the last year to maintain this effectiveness. So, that's where I am right now...but to tell you the truth, I don't think it's as effective as it used to be, but I read so much about people getting addicted to stimulant meds that I don't want to keep increasing the dose. I'm wondering if switching back and forth between Concerta and Adderall every year or so would help solve this issue? But concerning the issue you're having with just the Wellbutrin alone...you're already at a high dose, so I think your Dr. will want to try a different medication or just add another one to the Wellbutrin. |

Effectiveness of meds?
I also found the same thing with the Wellbutrin. I am on 300mg at this time. The doctor also placed me on a stimulant and it did correct the problem. Good luck with what ever you do. |
