Questions on medications and dosage..

My 10 yr old son was just diagnosed with ADHD-Inattentive type. He is not Hyperactive at all. We started him on 10mg Adderall and saw no change at all. The Dr. doubled this dosage and I still see no change. Should we keep going up on the dosage? Is 20mg a lot? My friends are suggesting we try Concerta. Not sure what the difference in the two is. He is experiencing no side effects - no change in appetite.

Meds and Dosage

As you know everyone is different. He may need a higher dosage or a different medication. With ADD/ADHD medications it is a hit and miss try. Try to be patient while the doctor tries to find the right med and dosage. As you know with a lot of the stimulants he can develope an upset stomach or stomach ache that usually lasts about a week then it usually subsides. If it doesn't then they will try something else again. This is a hurry up and wait type of situation. Try to be patient as it will be worth it in the long run.

Concerta dosage

Hi, I am a 39 y.o. mother with 3 children. My oldest is a 8 y.o. girl with ADD inattentive type. She has been on concerta for 1.5 years. She weighs 60 pounds, we started with 18 mgs of concerta per day. 6 months later we changed it to 27 mg. How long should concerta start working in the morning after she has her medication if its the correct dosage. Thank you. Quote:

I am curious too

I have 10 year old twin boys with ADHD. ANYONE with experience, even with one 10 year old boy? I am going out of my mind. My boys are currently on 10 mg. of Adderall XR a day. I give it to them at 7:30 a.m. Tell me what you think of Adderall. Before and after the medication is really rough for me. Maybe I need to toughen up a bit, but I am tired of being called a "jerk", "evil", "the meanest mother in the world". The anger is unbelievable. Has anyone been through this and switched medications to something better. We tried Metadate before this too that was not good either. They have no problems in school with behavior. HELP!!
