Other Concerta users
I'm 39 and was diagnosed with ADD just over a year ago. I've been taking Concerta for 9 months. My RX is for 72mg (54 +18) but I find that 72 makes me so focused that any distractions (like someone saying hello to me while I'm working on the computer) make me cranky. So I take 54mg. The Concerta has allowed me to sleep normally for the first time in 20 years, which itself has markedly improved my mental health. I also don't need a nap in the middle of the day and I no longer feel sluggish. But when I first started taking the meds, I actually felt "peppy." Not hyper, just motivated. I am wondering if the peppy part was just my body adjusting to the meds or is everybody else feeling peppy every day? (I realize Concerta is not an amphetamine and I have not tried amphetamines for my ADD because I have anxiety trouble). I have an appt. with my doctor for a meds review but wanted to get some feedback from others since this is all still new to me. Thanks for any input! |

Concerta may not be an amphetamine, but it is still a stimulant and is a schedule II controlled substance. So it can make you feel a little peppy. I also stopped having trouble sleeping. My focus was much better. Although I had some cardiac side effects that made me have to get on that and get on an amphetamine. I have no problems with this new med. If you have any questions about any meds you are on. Make a list and bring it with you to the doctor's office. If I don't do that, I forget to ask certain questions. |

I was on Concerta for a while
and I found that I had severe mood swings when it began to wear off and my stomach hurt alot of the time. My doctor had me on 18 mg twice a day, but that didn't seem to be enough to help me focus. I now take Vyvanse and it seems to be doing much better.
