since he was 7 (I think). His first teacher was sweet but not very good at teaching. By age 10, ds still liked piano so we looked for another teacher. She is better and firm but kind. She says he has a real ear for it. His issues are anger, frustration, and not wanting to practice because it is "hard" or "boring". But sometimes he can play for 2 hrs straight if he wants to!

If he seems to like it deep down, I'd continue with the lessons. Find him some fun stuff to play as soon as he can handle it. Find opportunities for him to play for others. When mine was younger, we also homeschooled him. Practice was a part of his school day. Now it is more challenging to fit around public school and homework.

A good way to use his talent is let him play at a nursing home. That's what our teacher has them all do. The patients love it! Or maybe he could do talent shows, competitions, etc. as he gets more experience.
