Help with our IEP

My daughter is not quite 3 and will be transitioning to the school district's preschool program in February. We are meeting with the school in 2 weeks for her IEP. I know it is unusual for a kiddo to get spec ed services just from adhd, but if there are extremes - then that is my daughter. I'm seeking advice from those of you who have traveled this path, what services should I specifically be requesting of the school district in the IEP?

Hello

It would depend on what her needs are. My son needed speech therapy and for a time Occupational therapy. He started with a school called The Learning Center when he was 2 and 1/2. We got there thru our local health dept after a 2 yr ck up showed he needed speech therapy. The teachers at the school helped us figure out what we needed. Your Dr might be able to help as well. I had a good experience with my sons school and the IEP but i know now everyone is as lucky. If your daughter had had a 3 yr check up was anything discussed about any learning problems etc? Good luck!

no learning or cognitive problems, which is why we're feeling so fortunate to even get her into the school district program. Her behavior seems to be the only real issue, but it's a pretty bad one. You caught your sons issues early - most people I talked to didn't know until their kids were in school. We knew our daughter had problems before she was a year and a half. I'm curious how the educational program worked for your kiddo, did it make significant differences?
